Antique Lollipop Candy Mold made by Thos. Mills & Bro. Inc. of Philadelphia, PA. They were the largest manufacturers of confectioners tools in the country in 1867.
Well known for making molds for boiled sugar toys, the company did not produce candy or confectionery treats, just the equipment. Started by John Gardiner in the mid 1800’s, it was located at 901 Nassau St., Philadelphia PA.
I do not know the age of this mold. I have owned it for over 20 years, and I think it is late 1800’s or early 1900’s.
It is quite heavy (over 8 pounds), solid wood, 2 large metal hinges, a long handle that lifts up the top, and three molds inside.
The molds are metal, are of 3 faces, all the same, and they appear to be African American faces. These molds were for making lollipops.
